Fortress Root Mount Bollard Light – Professional Root Mount System
This commercial root mount bollard light (in ground), has a sturdy Fortress head. The Professional ‘In-Ground’ Root Mount System is for extra security. Replacing the standard body and mounting base, the root mount bollards have longer tubes. At least 400mm secures / concretes in place without losing any height above ground. A mounting bar inside the tubular body also anchors the bollard when set into concrete. An optional secure cable outlet allows easy wiring after the bollard fixes in place.

A choice of height is available: 600mm, 800mm or 1000mm – a height suitable for every application such as driveways, paths and sectioned areas.
There is a choice of height (600mm, 800mm or 1000mm). Ideal for driveways and paths, there are also 3 styles of head to choose from: ‘domed’, ‘pillar’ or ‘flat’ top.
The head and 2.5mm thick extruded cylinder of the bollard are heavy duty die-cast aluminium. All screws are stainless steel, for a completely rustproof and non-corrosive model.
This Fortress Root Mount Bollard Light head guards and protects the internal UV-stop polycarbonate lens and lamp from damage and vandalism. 6 rings of robust aluminium surround the area. This makes it perfect for use in higher risk areas where damage is more likely to occur, such as gravel drives, public places, amenity lighting and areas where garden machinery may be used.
Distance between illuminated bollards – how far?
The distance between bollards varies depending on the bulb’s light output. Also the type of area, and how much light you require. Below are some guidelines to determine how many bollards may be required for your project, based on our recommended bulbs providing a constant light between each fitting:
- 15W LED Corn Bulb – 3m apart
In the event of damage after installation, Fostering carry stocks of replacement spare parts. These include Bollard Heads, PC lenses, Bulb Holders.

Surface mount bollards are installed on top of an existing solid surface, such as concrete or asphalt. Depending on the surface various types of bolts can be used, with expanding anchor bolts being one of the most secure options. They are a versatile option for locations where digging into the ground isn’t feasible or where temporary installation is preferred. These bollards offer easy installation and relocation, making them ideal for flexible or non-permanent applications.
Surface mounted bollards can be securely fixed to the ground using J-bolts. These would be attached to the surface mount with the bolts sunk into a wet concrete base, rather than the tube buried in the ground. This installation method provides a strong, stable foundation while allowing for easy removal or replacement if needed. These bollards are ideal for permanent installations in areas where digging or extensive groundwork is not an option, offering both durability and flexibility.
Surface mount bollards with in-ground spikes are designed to be anchored to soft ground with a spike that drives into the ground beneath the bollard. This method offers strong stability while being easier to install than traditional root mounts, as it requires no concrete or extensive digging. They are a great choice for private locations where a secure yet removable bollard is needed, providing a durable solution with quick and easy installation.
